Well webroot or the virus's deleted defender on my 8.1. Yet webroot says im not infected. Microsoft software checker say not infected but when click list of programs in 32 says SEVERE. computer won't accept upgrades on security, comes up with security center turned of at times and won't allow you to turn it on. And at times takes 3 reboots to log in

Windows defender won’t block a lot of the viruses.Having a 3rd party anti virus is better then using windows defender in general.
What I found that when the system is offline the windows defender loses its efficiency because of it being so cloud dependent. A normal free Avast is much more efficient when system is offline

Create two or more accounts one as ADMIN and the rest as STANDARD … and only use your computer as STANDARD. Make sure your ADMIN has PW and if something tries to install something and you aren't trying to do that SAY NO … 🙂
